Police in Nyaramarambe in Kisii county are holding a center manager over alleged involvement in exam malpractice in the ongoing KCSE exams.
The centre manager was arrested on Friday and taken into custody after two suspects were busted while hiding in a toilet with suspected exam material.
The officer, a teacher at St Francisca Nyamonaria DOK school, is suspected to have colluded with the suspects who were attempting a mathematics paper at a urinal.
The two suspects managed to escape after they jumped out of a police vehicle as the officers combed the school compound for other suspects.
According to police report  the two unknown men and one of the school’s candidates had locked themselves inside the toilet while in the possession of two mobile phones, including one belonging to the centre manager.
Exercise books, a log table and two class attendance registers and an assortment of hand-written papers were also recovered.
According to Kisii County Director of Education Pius Ong’oma, the centre manager identified as Robert Ogendo , was arrested for flouting the set examination rules.
Mr. Ong’oma said that security agents have since replaced the centre manager as they continue sealing loopholes that may encourage examination cheating.
The centre manager will be charged in court on Tuesday even as the police continue to pursue the other suspects who managed to escape.
