
Police have arrested Ikolomani parliamentary aspirant in possession of crude weapons as the voting exercise opened in the area.
Hamisi Butichi, was arrested with a cache of crude weapons at one of the poling stations in the area which have since been confiscated.
Kakamega Central OCPD Valerian Obure said the candidate also had other items that were not permitted at the polling station.
Hamisi is currently being grilled by the police concerning the matter . The Kenya Kwanza candidate was arrested following a tip-off by members of the public who spotted the crude weapons and notified the police.
The news comes at time when Interior CS Dr. Fred Matiang’i assured Kenyans of adequate security to ensure that the voting exercise continues smoothly in all parts of the country.
“Security services have deployed adequate personnel across the country to support IEBC Kenya conduct the elections and reassure Kenyans of their safety. I encourage all registered voters to come out confidently and exercise their democratic responsibility.” Said CS Matiang’i
