Britam Holdings has named former CIC Chief Executive Officer Tom Gitogo as its new Managing Director effective from September 1. The appointment which awaits the approval of the Insurance Regulatory Authority (IRA) will see the departed Tavaziva Madzinga replaced.
Britam’s Deputy Managing Director Charles Njuguna has been holding forte as the company’s Acting MD following Madzinga’s hushed exit announced in November last year. The incoming Gitogo has over 20 years’ experience in the insurance industry, having served a variety of executive roles.
Prior to his role as CIC Insurance CEO, Gitogo was also Pan Africa Life (now Sanlam Insurance) Chief Executive. Gitogo is nevertheless no stranger at Britam having served as its Finance Director for a seven-year stint early in his underwriting career.
He holds a Master’s Degree in Business Administration (Strategic Management) from Moi University and a Science Bachelors (Civil Engineering) from the University of Nairobi.
Gitogo will be tasked with leading Britam’s recently announced five-year strategy which is underpinned on improving customer experiences through technology.
The strategy further evolves around optimizing costs to firm up the company’s profitability.
